Today we finished competing in our first 2018 competition in Waterbury. These past two days were filled with excitement, determination, and teamwork. This year's game, Power Up, involved a lot of strategy so we prioritized feeding cubes into the exchange and shooting cubes onto both of the switches. We were semifinalists alongside FRC teams 4097 and 3461. To add the cherry on the top of our successes this weekend, we won the district chairman's award, the most prestigious award in FIRST! We'd like to congratulate all of the teams that won awards at competition and wish everyone good luck on the rest of the season! See us next time at the NE District Hartford Event!
Introducing our 2018 robot Snapback!! This robot is by far one of the smallest that we will ever encounter in competition. Snapback was named after our cube intake because it "snaps back" as it intakes cubes and shoots them out. All of our hard work payed off but it could not have been done without the help of all of our sponsors and supporters. Thank you so much!!!
Practice bot looking good!!
Our 2018 robot is now in the bag!!! All of our hard work throughout the season payed off with our pretty amazing robot. #BDIBS Two days until bag day and we're still prototyping!!! This is our climber prototype................
With build season coming to an end, we are working harder than ever! This past week we've been finishing up out intake design, submitting awards, programming, and other things to get ready before competition. On Saturday we demonstrated our robot and spread the FIRST message at the Yale Pathways Science on Saturdays! We are proud to announce that we are building our smallest robot ever! With the size being 22x24, we are even smaller than last year's Brick 2.0!
Now to come up with a name...... #pebble? Today we worked on redesigning our "roller claw", the previous cube intake that we designed. We used the claw part of the intake and attached it to a wooden board. The board had a bar attached in the back providing a "lever" inspired design. The lever could be adjusted to different heights, which is perfect for intaking at different levels and placing the cubes at different heights. This design was inspired by FRC Spectrum 3847's intake. We have to "Steal from the best and invent the rest!"

More than halfway through build season and we're working harder than ever. So much has happened this week; It is safe to say that this has been one of our most productive weeks so far. We've been keeping up with our vlog game so make sure to stay updated on all of our videos. Our most recent vlog can teach you a couple tips on how you can accurately proportion a piece and cut it out. Go and watch it by clicking the button below! Using those pieces , we designed and built a new intake. Our intake prototype has its pneumatic organ donor, Brick 2.0, right by its side. Brick 2.0 is pumping life right into it. (literally) So will this be our official intake design for our 2018 robot? Or maybe it will be our top secret intake that we have been working on for a couple of weeks..................... shhhhhhh |
